Bhagavān (Śiva, in Kedāra context)
Tirtha: Kedāra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Daityas/Asuras (addressed collectively)
Scene: Bhagavān (Śiva) addresses assembled beings in a Himalayan sacred setting, declaring them fulfilled and fit for an amṛta-like consecration due to their upavāsa.
Fasting (upavāsa) performed with sacred intent is praised as a divinely guided act that ripens one’s life-purpose and prepares the seeker for higher, nectar-like spiritual fruition.
The verse occurs in the Kedārakhaṇḍa, situating its teaching within the glory-literature of Kedāra (Kedāranātha/Kedāra-tīrtha) under the Māheśvara Khaṇḍa of the Skanda Purāṇa.
Upavāsa (religious fasting) is explicitly mentioned as the observance undertaken “today,” presented as a sanctifying discipline that qualifies one for the ensuing sacred benefit.
