Transliteration

vyasya vedānmahābuddhirnānā śākhā prabhedataḥ | aṣṭādaśapurāṇāni sūtādīnparipāṭhya ca

Translation

Vyāsa, von großer Einsicht, ordnete die Veden in viele Śākhās und Unterteilungen; und er ließ auch die achtzehn Purāṇas von Sūta und anderen ordnungsgemäß lehren und rezitieren.
