Transliteration

gāyatrī vedajananī gāyatrī brāhmaṇaprasūḥ | gātāraṃ trāyate yasmādgāyatrī tena gīyate

Translation

Gāyatrī ist die Mutter der Veden; Gāyatrī bringt die Brāhmaṇas hervor. Weil sie den Sänger/Rezitor (gātā) schützt (trāyate), wird sie daher „Gāyatrī“ genannt.
