Type: kshetra
Listener: Frame audience (sages/pilgrims)
Scene: A young brahmacārin with staff and waterpot studies palm-leaf manuscripts before a guru; behind him, a symbolic doorway opens into a household with sacred fire, indicating the rightful transition to gṛhastha after disciplined study.
Life should follow dharmic stages: disciplined study and celibate training first, then household responsibility entered without moral lapse.
The verse belongs to the Kāśīkhaṇḍa’s Kāśī instruction, where personal dharma is taught as befitting the sacred city’s way of life.
A dharmic prescription is given: after completing Vedic study with unbroken brahmacarya, one should formally enter gṛhastha-āśrama.
