Skanda Purana — Brahma Khanda, Shloka 17

देव्या भूतगणं त्वेवं निहत्य महिषासुरः । सिंहं मारयितुं देव्याश्चुक्रोध च ननाद च

devyā bhūtagaṇaṃ tvevaṃ nihatya mahiṣāsuraḥ | siṃhaṃ mārayituṃ devyāścukrodha ca nanāda ca

Nachdem Mahiṣāsura so die Schar der Wesen der Göttin erschlagen hatte, geriet er in Zorn und brüllte, um den Löwen der Devī zu töten.
