Brahmā (continued context from brahmovāca)
Tirtha: Dharmāraṇya
Type: kshetra
Listener: (addressed) son/putra
Scene: A recitation assembly: a sage recites the māhātmya while listeners sit with folded hands; above them symbolic three streams labeled mind, speech, body dissolve into light, signifying the destruction of threefold sin; the sacred forest of Dharmāraṇya frames the scene.
Devotional hearing and recitation transform and dissolve sins committed through thought, word, and deed.
Dharmāraṇya is the implied kṣetra whose māhātmya is to be heard and recited.
Śravaṇa (listening) and kīrtana (recitation/chanting) are prescribed as purificatory acts.
