Scene: A royal court or forest-assembly: Vyāsa narrates as compassionate brāhmaṇas offer a small bundle (puṭikā) as a propitiatory gift to pacify a curse; the atmosphere shifts from tension to relief.
Compassion follows sincere surrender; the righteous soften when repentance is genuine and dharma is restored.
Dharmāraṇya is the sacred narrative space; the verse highlights śānti within that holy region.
A propitiatory gift (dāna) is indicated—giving the puṭikā as an act aimed at śāpa-śānti.
