Narrator (addressing the listener as 'nṛpa')
Tirtha: Vyāsa-āśrama (Revā region)
Type: kshetra
Listener: nṛpa (king)
Scene: A verdant, auspicious hermitage with thatched huts and sacrificial fires; sages arrive peacefully, and a king rises quickly from his seat, hands poised in reverence, eyes lowered in humility.
Honoring realized guests—rising to welcome and serving sages—is a core expression of dharma and spiritual culture.
Vyāsa’s āśrama within the Revā (Narmadā) sacred landscape is highlighted as a sanctified meeting-place of sages.
The implied prescription is atithi-satkāra: respectful reception of guests, especially brāhmaṇa-sages (abhyutthāna).
