Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya
Tirtha: Kaubera-tīrtha (contextual)
Type: ghat
Listener: Rājan (king)
Scene: A devotee stands navel-deep in river water holding a small gold piece in a cloth; a brāhmaṇa on the steps receives with blessing gesture; other pilgrims watch; sunlight glints on water.
Pilgrimage is completed by dāna; charity performed in a sanctified setting multiplies spiritual merit.
Kaubera-tīrtha (within the Narmadā tīrtha-pañcaka sequence).
Bathe, stand navel-deep in the water, and give gold (kāṃcana) to a brāhmaṇa.
