Da ihr dies erkannt habt, vollzieht nun eine schwer zu vollbringende Askese. Und so taten es alle Götter, von Agni angeführt.
Unspecified Purāṇic narrator (continuing narrative of the gods’ observance)
Tirtha: Revā/Narmadā-tīra (implied)
Type: kshetra
Scene: All devas, with Agni at the forefront, begin severe austerities—standing, seated meditation, fire-vigils—on the riverbank after Brahmā’s counsel.
Right understanding should culminate in disciplined practice—tapas—modeled even by the gods.
The narrative is moving toward the establishment of a Devatīrtha on the Revā/Narmadā, later named and praised as an unsurpassed sacred ford.
Tapas (austerity/penance) is prescribed as the central discipline.
