Type: kshetra
Listener: a king (nṛpa)
Scene: Alikā, adorned as a celestial maiden, approaches the serene sage Vidyānanda in his riverside hermitage; the moment of ‘choosing’ is depicted as a garland exchange, while the sage’s acceptance is calm and restrained, foreshadowed by a faint ominous shadow.
Choices made in relationship and dharma create long karmic arcs that later unfold within tīrtha legends.
The verse is part of the Alikā Tīrtha origin account in Revā Khaṇḍa.
No direct rite is prescribed here; it provides the narrative prelude establishing the tīrtha’s backstory.
