Prologue to the Recitation of the Śaiva Purāṇa
इदं परमिदं नेति विवादः सुमहानभूत् । तेऽभिजग्मुर्विधातारं ब्रह्माणं प्रष्टुमव्ययम्
idaṃ paramidaṃ neti vivādaḥ sumahānabhūt | te'bhijagmurvidhātāraṃ brahmāṇaṃ praṣṭumavyayam
Zwischen ihnen erhob sich ein überaus großer Streit: Der eine beharrte: „Dies ist das Höchste“, der andere erwiderte: „Nein, nicht dies.“ Darum gingen sie zum Schöpfer, zu Brahmā, dem Unvergänglichen, um ihn zu befragen.
