Prologue to the Recitation of the Śaiva Purāṇa
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It teaches that the highest attainment is not status among gods but unwavering bhakti that yearns for Shiva’s darśana; even exalted deities remain seekers before the Supreme Pati.
The verse emphasizes darśana-centered devotion—classically fulfilled through Saguna worship such as Śiva-liṅga pūjā, where the devotee approaches Shiva as visibly present and grace-bestowing.
Cultivate daily darśana-bhāva through liṅga abhiṣeka and japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), maintaining a steady longing for Shiva’s presence.
