रुद्राक्ष-माहात्म्य
Rudrākṣa Māhātmya — The Greatness of Rudraksha
ये त्रिपुण्ड्रधरा लोके जटाधारिण एव ये । ये रुद्रा क्षधरास्ते वै यमलोकं प्रयांति न
ye tripuṇḍradharā loke jaṭādhāriṇa eva ye | ye rudrā kṣadharāste vai yamalokaṃ prayāṃti na
In dieser Welt: Wer die Tripuṇḍra—drei Linien heiliger Asche—trägt, wer Jatā—verfilzte Haarsträhnen—trägt, und wer Rudrākṣa-Perlen trägt: Solche Verehrer gehen wahrlich nicht in Yamas Reich.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Sthala Purana: General promise of protection from Yama’s realm for bearers of Śaiva insignia; not a local sthala narrative.
Significance: Assures ‘Yama-bhaya-nivṛtti’ (freedom from fear of death/judgment) through Śaiva identity markers allied to devotion.
Role: liberating
It declares that visible Shaiva disciplines—Tripuṇḍra (bhasma), jaṭā, and Rudrākṣa—are not mere ornaments but signs of surrendered devotion to Pati (Shiva); such devotion loosens bondage (pāśa) and therefore removes fear of Yama’s jurisdiction.
Tripuṇḍra and Rudrākṣa are classical supports of Saguna Shiva worship, aligning the body and mind with Shiva’s forms and vows; they serve as constant remembrance while performing Linga-pūjā and japa of Shaiva mantras.
Wear Rudrākṣa, apply Tripuṇḍra with sacred ash, and maintain steady Shiva-smaraṇa (remembrance)—especially alongside mantra-japa such as the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
