Liṅga-pratiṣṭhāvidhiḥ — Installation Standards and Auspicious Parameters for Liṅga Worship
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Significance: Teaches that liṅga selection/formation with proper lakṣaṇas enhances efficacy of worship; ‘immediate fruit’ indicates heightened receptivity to grace when form and rite align with śāstra.
Role: liberating
It teaches that devotion expressed through correctly constituted liṅga-worship bears definite spiritual merit, and that greater completeness in auspicious marks (as per śāstra) makes the worship more spiritually efficacious—yielding quicker results by Śiva’s grace.
The liṅga is the central saguna support for approaching the nirguṇa-tattva of Śiva; when the worship-support is aligned with scriptural lakṣaṇas, the devotee’s bhakti and ritual precision harmonize, enabling faster bestowal of pūjā-phala.
It implies performing liṅga-pūjā according to śāstric injunctions—using proper form, purity, and method—often accompanied by mantra-japa (especially the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and focused meditation on Śiva as Pati, the bestower of grace.
