स्कन्दसरः (Skandasara) — तीर्थवर्णनम् / Description of the Skandasara Sacred Lake
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
The verse highlights Shaiva Siddhanta’s Pati–Pashu–Pasha framework: bondage (pāśa) is removable only by the Lord’s grace, here mediated through Nandī, Shiva’s foremost attendant, showing that liberation can occur instantly when divine power intervenes.
Nandī functions as the living emblem of Saguna Shiva’s compassionate, accessible power—devotees approach Shiva (often as the Linga) through devotion and surrender, and the Lord’s grace is depicted as capable of cutting the inner bonds that obstruct realization.
The takeaway is grace-oriented sādhanā: steady japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with devotion to Shiva and reverence to Nandī (Nandin-dhyāna) as a support for removing inner pasha-like obstacles such as fear, attachment, and delusion.
