Pañcāvaraṇa-mārga Stotra to Yogeśvara Śiva
दुःस्वप्नादिमहानर्थसूचकेषु भयेषु च । यदि संकीर्तयेदेतन्न ततो नार्थभाग्भवेत्
duḥsvapnādimahānarthasūcakeṣu bhayeṣu ca | yadi saṃkīrtayedetanna tato nārthabhāgbhavet
Bei Ängsten wie bösen Träumen und anderen Vorzeichen, die großes Unheil ankündigen, gilt: Wenn man dieses Śiva‑Namen/mantra immer wieder singend rezitiert, entsteht daraus kein Unheil.

In Saguna worship, the devotee takes refuge in Śiva through name, form, and devotion; chanting before the Śiva-liṅga (or while mentally visualizing it) is presented as a direct means to neutralize ominous signs and steady the mind in Śiva.
Repeated japa/saṅkīrtana of Śiva-nāma—classically the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—especially upon waking from a bad dream or when anxious, as a quick protective practice.
