Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: Invokes auspiciousness through the divine feminine powers aligned to Śiva; emphasizes that prosperity (Lakṣmī) and knowledge (Sarasvatī) become liberatively oriented when ‘śivabhāvitā’—turned toward Pati.
Mantra: prabhā sarasvatī gaurī lakṣmīśca śivabhāvitā | śivayoḥ śāsanādetā maṃgalaṃ pradiśaṃtu me
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Gaurī
Role: nurturing
Offering: dipa
It presents all auspicious powers—radiance, wisdom, prosperity, and the grace of Gaurī—as effective when they are śivabhāvitā, i.e., oriented to Śiva; true maṅgala arises under the harmony and ordinance of Śiva-Śakti.
The verse reflects Saguna devotion: blessings are sought through the personal Lord Śiva together with Śivā; in Linga-worship this is expressed by honoring the Linga as Śiva and the pīṭha/yoni as Śakti, seeking maṅgala through their united grace.
A practical takeaway is to begin worship with a maṅgala-prārthanā while holding Śiva-bhāva—reciting the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), offering bilva leaves to the Linga, and mentally dedicating knowledge (Sarasvatī) and prosperity (Lakṣmī) to Śiva’s service.
