Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: General Śaiva naimittika worship on aṣṭamī/caturdaśī and parvan days is said to increase puṇya, remove pāśa (bondage) gradually through disciplined devotion, and make one fit for Śiva’s grace.
It establishes a sacred rhythm for devotion: regular worship on key lunar tithis (8th and 14th) and parvan junction-days purifies the pashu (bound soul) and turns the mind toward Pati (Śiva), supporting steadiness in bhakti and inner discipline.
By prescribing specific tithis for observance, it implicitly supports scheduled Liṅga-pūjā and Saguna Śiva-upāsanā—offering water, bilva leaves, mantra-japa, and lamp on these days—so devotion becomes consistent rather than occasional.
Perform Śiva-pūjā or at least Panchākṣarī japa ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") on the 8th and 14th tithis and on parvan days; keep vrata/fasting as feasible, apply tripuṇḍra (bhasma), and maintain a simple, sattvic routine focused on remembrance of Śiva.
