Maṇḍala Worship and Homa Sequence for the Disciple
तपस्तमपि चोद्वास्य कृत्वा तस्याथ शांतये । विद्याकलां समाधाय तद्व्याप्तिं चावलोकयेत्
tapastamapi codvāsya kṛtvā tasyātha śāṃtaye | vidyākalāṃ samādhāya tadvyāptiṃ cāvalokayet
Nachdem man auch die aus der Askese entstandene Glut vertrieben hat und zu ihrer Befriedung in tiefer Sammlung die Kraft des heiligen Wissens im Samādhi verankert, soll man seine allverbreitete Gegenwart schauen.

It teaches that raw ascetic intensity (tapas) must be calmed and refined through concentrated spiritual knowledge (vidyā) so the seeker can realize the all-pervading reality of Shiva (Pati), rather than remaining bound by the heat of effort alone.
Linga-worship begins with a form (saguṇa support) but culminates in contemplation of Shiva’s vyāpti—His presence pervading all. The verse points from disciplined practice toward inner absorption where the Linga signifies the formless, all-pervading Lord.
A meditative practice: settle the agitation caused by austerities, enter samādhi by fixing the mind in vidyā (Shiva-jñāna), and contemplate Shiva’s pervasion; this aligns well with japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) leading into silent absorption.
