Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti

Sthala Purana: The verse shifts from cosmology to soteriology: right knowledge of kāla as a dependent power enables transcendence of kāla-ātmā (time-conditioned identity) and vision of the kālātīta (Timeless Śiva).

Significance: Frames pilgrimage and worship as jñāna-sādhana: not only seeking boons within time, but awakening to Śiva beyond time; supports guru-upadeśa and contemplation.

Role: teaching

FAQs

It teaches that when one understands Time (kāla) as a limited power governing embodied experience, one can transcend identification with the time-bound self and realize Śiva as Kālatīta—the timeless, liberating Pati.

Linga-worship trains the mind to rest in the unchanging reality behind all change. By meditating on Śiva through the Linga (Saguna support), the devotee is led toward the realization of Śiva’s Nirguna aspect as the Timeless beyond all temporal modifications.

Practice steady japa of the Panchakshara ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") with meditation on Śiva as Kālatīta; cultivate detachment from past-future fixation, and contemplate the witness-consciousness that remains unchanged while time moves.
