Tattva Level: pati

Shiva Form: Liṅgodbhava

Sthala Purana: Not a jyotirliṅga narrative; it prescribes month-wise worship of gem-constituted liṅgas (vajra, emerald, pearl, nīla), reflecting a vrata-kalpa with dravya-bheda (material differentiation) to stabilize devotion through the annual cycle.

Significance: Supports sustained vrata practice by aligning worship with the lunar-solar calendar; gem-liṅga worship is treated as auspicious, enhancing steadiness (sthiti) and purity of devotion.

Role: nurturing

Offering: pushpa

FAQs

It teaches regulated, time-aligned devotion (niyama) to Shiva through specific forms of the liṅga, emphasizing that disciplined Saguna worship purifies the mind and supports the soul’s movement toward Shiva’s grace.

It prescribes concrete, visible supports for worship—gem-based liṅgas—showing how Saguna upāsanā uses sacred materials and seasonal timing to focus bhakti, steadiness, and reverence toward Pati (Shiva).

Perform month-specific liṅga-pūjā (as available) with steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” offering water/flowers with devotion; the key practice is consistency and purity of intention rather than mere luxury of materials.
