Causes and Pattern of Rudra’s Manifestation

Tattva Level: pashu
Cosmic Event: repeated kalpa creation; stall in proliferation (avṛddhi)
It highlights the limitation of mere creation (karma and prapañca) without the higher principle of Pati (Shiva): when beings lack the enabling cause for true flourishing, even Brahmā becomes bewildered—implying that grace, right knowledge, and Shiva’s governance are essential for growth and liberation.
Brahmā’s inability to find the ‘cause of increase’ points toward dependence on Shiva as the sustaining and elevating power; in Shaiva practice, the Linga represents that supreme support (ādhāra) through which creation is stabilized and beings gain auspiciousness and progression.
A practical takeaway is to seek clarity through Shiva-upāsanā—especially japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and steady dhyāna on the Linga—to remove moha (bewilderment) and transform sorrow into insight.
