It supports saguna-dhyāna: the mind is steadied by contemplating Shiva’s auspicious, vividly described form, which in Shaiva Siddhanta becomes a doorway to realizing Pati (the Lord) beyond bondage.
While Linga worship points to Shiva’s transcendent reality, such iconographic verses legitimize personal-form devotion (saguna upāsanā), helping devotees fix attention and offer bhakti that matures into inner realization.
Practice Shiva-dhyāna alongside japa of the Panchakshara ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), visualizing Shiva’s ornaments and serene presence; this complements Linga-pūjā with focused inner worship.
