Nun will ich ihre ṛṣis, ihre Söhne und auch ihre göttlichen Scharen darlegen. Höre mit freudiger Hingabe, o Śaunaka, während ich jene Ruhmreichen der Reihe nach berichte.

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
The verse highlights śravaṇa (reverent listening) done with suprīti—joyful devotion—as a Shaiva discipline: receiving sacred lineage and divine histories in proper order purifies understanding and supports devotion to Pati (Śiva).
Though not naming the Liṅga directly, it frames Purāṇic hearing as a pathway to Saguna Śiva-bhakti: learning about Śiva’s divine associates, sages, and sacred lineages strengthens faith and steadies ritual worship and contemplation.
The implied practice is disciplined śravaṇa and smaraṇa—listening attentively and then recollecting in order; traditionally this is paired with simple Shaiva observance such as repeating the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) before and after study.
