शिवावतारोऽश्वत्थामा महाबलपराक्रमः । त्रैलोक्यमुखदोऽद्यापि वर्तते जाह्नवीतटे

Aśvatthāmā ist eine Inkarnation (Avatāra) des Herrn Śiva, begabt mit gewaltiger Kraft und Tapferkeit. Noch heute weilt er am Ufer der Jāhnavī (Gaṅgā) und spendet den drei Welten Gnade und Wohlergehen.
