Sūta Gosvāmin
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Phala-śruti: hearing/reciting the kathā is said to yield bhukti and mukti—framing pilgrimage-by-listening (śravaṇa-tīrtha) as spiritually efficacious.
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
It declares the śravaṇa (listening) and pāṭha (recitation) of Shiva’s sacred narrative as intrinsically purifying and grace-bearing, capable of giving both bhukti (well-being in life) and mukti (release), emphasizing devotion as a direct means to Shiva’s favor.
By praising the power of hearing and reciting Shiva’s līlā and forms (a Saguna approach), the verse supports devotional engagement with Shiva’s manifest presence—commonly centered in practice on the Śiva-liṅga—where narrative, praise, and remembrance become acts of worship.
Regular recitation (pārāyaṇa) or attentive listening to the Shiva Purana—ideally alongside simple Shaiva observances such as mantra-japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and a devotional mindset—since the verse explicitly highlights pāṭha and śravaṇa as efficacious practices.
