Nabhaga-Upākhyāna: The Account of Nabhaga and Shiva-Jñāna
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Offering: naivedya
It teaches that all sacred offering and its sanctified remainder ultimately belongs to Rudra, affirming Shiva as the inner Lord (Pati) of all rites; recognizing His share purifies worship and aligns the sacrificer with divine grace.
By declaring ‘Rudra’s share’ in ritual substance, the verse supports Saguna worship where offerings (naivedya, oblations, prasada) are consciously dedicated to Shiva—often through the Linga—so the rite becomes Shiva-centered rather than merely formal.
Offer the fruit of any ritual first to Shiva with remembrance of Rudra (e.g., japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and then partake as prasada, cultivating the attitude that all sanctity and merit are surrendered to Him.
