FAQs

It warns that certain transgressions rooted in harming others and uncontrolled desire become “heavy” sins, difficult to neutralize through mere formal expiations; Shaiva teaching emphasizes inner transformation—restraint, remorse, and turning the mind toward Shiva—as the real purification.

Linga-worship is presented as worship of Shiva as Pati (the Lord) who purifies the devotee; the verse implies that external rites without ethical discipline are insufficient—true approach to Saguna Shiva includes dharmic conduct alongside devotion.

Adopt strict self-restraint (brahmacarya/niyama), sincere confession and repentance, and sustained japa of the Panchakshara ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") with vrata-like discipline (such as Mahashivratri observances), so worship is joined to moral reform.
