बाणासुरस्य क्रोधाज्ञा तथा अन्तःपुरयुद्धारम्भः
Bāṇāsura’s Wrathful Command and the Onset of Battle at the Inner Palace
क्षत्रियस्य रणे श्रेयो मरणं सन्मुखे सदा । न वीरमानिनो भूमौ दीनस्येव कृतांजलिः
kṣatriyasya raṇe śreyo maraṇaṃ sanmukhe sadā | na vīramānino bhūmau dīnasyeva kṛtāṃjaliḥ
Für einen Kṣatriya ist der Tod im Kampf—dem Feind von Angesicht zu Angesicht—stets das höhere Gut; und wer sich für einen Helden hält, dem ziemt es nicht, auf dem Schlachtfeld wie ein Elender zu stehen, die Hände gefaltet in hilfloser Unterwerfung.

Saguna Shiva as the Lord of dharma strengthens the devotee’s resolve to act rightly without collapse into despair; worship of the Linga trains the mind toward steadiness and fearlessness, so one meets life’s battles ‘face to face’ with Shiva as the inner support.
