FAQs

The verse highlights Shaiva Siddhanta’s principle that mantra-vidyā is received through the Lord’s grace and is to be given to an adhikārin (a qualified, purified seeker). Mantra is treated not as mere sound, but as sacred knowledge that leads the soul toward Shiva.

By calling the Vidyā “mantra-rūpā,” the text points to Saguna Shiva worship where Shiva is approached through mantra and ritual. In Linga worship, such mantra-vidyā becomes the core means of invoking Shiva’s presence and cultivating devotion and purity.

The practical takeaway is mantra-dīkṣā and disciplined mantra-japa undertaken with inner and outer purity. Regular japa (such as the Panchākṣarī, when received appropriately) supported by tapas, restraint, and devotional focus is implied.
