Tripuramohana — “The Delusion/Enchanting of Tripura”
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: General instruction on anityatā: body and possessions perish; therefore maintain the body as an instrument for dharma and Śiva-upāsanā (implied by the Rudrasaṃhitā context).
Significance: Supports the Siddhānta ideal: disciplined life (caryā/kriyā) using the body as a temple for Śiva’s worship, not as an end in itself.
Role: teaching
It teaches vairāgya grounded in discernment: the body and possessions are impermanent, so a devotee should maintain the body only as a means for dharma, japa, and Śiva-bhakti, aiming for liberation rather than indulgence.
By urging practical stewardship of the body, it supports regular Linga-worship—daily pūjā, abhiṣeka, mantra-japa, and temple service—so the finite body becomes an instrument to approach Saguna Śiva and, through grace, realize the highest truth.
Maintain bodily purity and steadiness to perform Śiva-sādhana—such as Panchākṣarī japa ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), applying bhasma (Tripuṇḍra), and simple disciplined living that sustains consistent worship.
