Tripura Dīkṣā: Prescriptive Procedure
Chapter on the Ordinance of Initiation
Sanatkumara
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It underscores that spiritual power is not merely force or lineage, but is transmitted through authorized dīkṣā performed with vidhi—discipline and right method—aligning the aspirant’s path (dharma) with a transformative rite.
Dīkṣā in Shaiva contexts typically orients the practitioner toward regulated worship—often including mantra-japa and ritual observances connected to Saguna Shiva (including Linga-upāsanā)—showing that devotion is strengthened when grounded in proper initiation and procedure.
The verse points to receiving mantra-dīkṣā and following prescribed vidhi: disciplined japa, daily worship, and observances as taught by one’s tradition—rather than improvised practice—so the sādhana becomes steady and effective.
