Tripura Dīkṣā: Prescriptive Procedure
Chapter on the Ordinance of Initiation
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Mantra: ādirūpaḥ … pūjya ucyate (nāma-prakāśa as a stuti-like naming)
Type: stotra
The verse affirms Shaiva siddhānta devotion: those aligned with Shiva’s nature and purpose are not separate from Him in belonging and grace; being “Pūjya” indicates spiritual authority and worship-worthiness due to their connection with the Ādi (primordial) Lord.
By calling them “Pūjya” and linking them to the “Ādirūpa,” the verse supports Saguna worship: honoring Shiva’s manifested forms and those established in His service is part of Linga-centered bhakti, where reverence flows toward Shiva and what is consecrated to Him.
The practical takeaway is sevā and pūjā with reverence: worship Shiva (especially through Linga-pūjā) and honor Shiva’s consecrated forms/servants while mentally affirming “they are His,” supported by japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya).
