पूर्वशापप्रभावेण दानवीं योनिमाश्रितः । न दानवमतिस्सोभूद्दानवत्वेऽपि वै मुने

It highlights that external circumstance (even a demonic birth caused by past karma) does not inevitably determine one’s inner disposition; spiritual merit and saṁskāras can preserve dharmic intelligence, supporting the Shaiva view that bondage (pāśa) can be transcended through purity and right orientation.
The verse implies that devotion and inner alignment are primary: even if one is placed in adverse conditions by karma, turning the mind toward Saguna Shiva (as worshiped in the Liṅga) protects discernment and keeps one fit for grace (anugraha).
