Hymn of Praise by the Devas
Devastuti
The Devas
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: stotra
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It presents Śiva as śaraṇāgata-vatsala—the Lord whose grace turns toward those who surrender—affirming that divine compassion removes the devotee’s duḥkha and establishes sādhus in inner well-being.
The praise addresses Mahādeva in a personal (saguṇa) mode: devotees approach Him for protection and relief. In Śiva Purāṇa practice, such surrender is commonly expressed through Liṅga-pūjā, where the formless is honored through a sacred form and grace is sought.
A practical takeaway is śaraṇāgati with bhakti: daily Liṅga-abhiṣeka while repeating the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” praying specifically for removal of duḥkha and cultivation of sādhusaukhyā (steadfast well-being).
