Rahu’s Aftermath and Jalandhara’s Mobilization
maheśvara uvāca | he viṣṇo suravarya tvaṃ śṛṇu madvākyamādarāt | jalaṃdharaṃ mahādaityaṃ haniṣyāmi na saṃśayaḥ
Lord Shiva (Maheshvara)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Role: destructive
This verse shows Shiva as Pati (the Supreme Lord) who decisively removes adharma. His vow to destroy Jalandhara symbolizes the inevitable fall of egoic, oppressive power when confronted by divine grace and righteous order.
The verse highlights Saguna Shiva—Shiva with attributes—who acts within history to protect the devas and restore balance. Linga-worship honors this same Lord as the living presence of Pati, whose power both sustains and dissolves the cosmos.
A practical takeaway is steadfast japa of the Panchakshara mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with focused resolve, cultivating inner certainty (niścaya) to overcome one’s ‘inner Jalandhara’—pride, violence, and delusion.
