ब्रह्मोवाच । इत्याकर्ण्य वचो मे हि ब्रह्मणस्स रमेश्वरः । प्रत्युवाच शिवं स्मृत्वा शिवात्मा दीनमानसः
brahmovāca | ityākarṇya vaco me hi brahmaṇassa rameśvaraḥ | pratyuvāca śivaṃ smṛtvā śivātmā dīnamānasaḥ
Brahmā sprach: Als Rameśvara (Viṣṇu) meine Worte so vernommen hatte, wurde sein Geist demütig; er gedachte des Herrn Śiva, wurde innerlich einspitzig in Śiva, und dann erwiderte er mir.

It highlights that true understanding begins with humility and Śiva-smarana (remembrance of Śiva). Even exalted beings turn inward to Śiva as the supreme Pati, and only then speak or act with clarity.
Remembering Śiva before responding reflects approaching Saguna Śiva with devotion and reverence. In Purāṇic practice this inner recollection naturally culminates in outward worship—such as Linga-pūjā—where mind and speech are aligned to Śiva.
Śiva-smarana as a brief meditation: pause, remember Śiva, and mentally repeat the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) before speaking—cultivating humility and devotion.
