दधीचाश्रमगमनम् — Viṣṇu’s Disguise and Dadhīca’s Fearlessness
Kṣu’s Request
निशम्य वचनं मे हि ब्राह्मणो न विनिर्जितः । जगाम निकटं तस्य प्रणनाम मुनिं हरिः
niśamya vacanaṃ me hi brāhmaṇo na vinirjitaḥ | jagāma nikaṭaṃ tasya praṇanāma muniṃ hariḥ
Als er meine Worte vernahm, wurde jener Brāhmaṇa weder von Hochmut noch von Erregung überwältigt. Dann trat Hari näher und verneigte sich ehrfürchtig vor dem Muni.

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga account; the key theological movement is from deva-assertion to humility before a brahmarṣi—an ethical ‘tīrtha’ of surrender that Śaiva texts often valorize as preparatory to grace.
Significance: Teaches namaskāra and vinaya as spiritual accelerants; surrender (praṇāma) is a practical doorway to Śiva’s anugraha by reducing āṇava (ego).
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It highlights dharma through humility: even exalted beings honor realized sages, showing that ego must not conquer the mind—an inner discipline aligned with Shaiva pursuit of grace (anugraha) and liberation.
Reverence and surrender are core to Saguna Shiva worship; bowing to the saintly reflects the same bhakti-bhāva offered before the Shiva Linga—approaching the divine and the guru with humility rather than pride.
Practice namaskāra with a humble mind before Shiva, the guru, and the virtuous; pair it with japa of the Panchākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") as an antidote to pride and mental agitation.
