Tattva Level: pashu
The verse presents śravaṇa (devotional listening) as a purifying practice: sacred Shaiva narratives calm restlessness and dissatisfaction, turning the mind toward Shiva (Pati) and away from binding impulses (pāśa).
By inviting listeners into Shiva-kathā, it establishes the devotional foundation for Saguna Shiva worship—hearing Shiva’s deeds and virtues naturally matures reverence that later expresses itself as Linga-pūjā, mantra-japa, and temple observance.
The implied practice is regular listening/recitation of Shiva Purana kathā with faith; it can be paired with Panchakshara japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and simple daily Shiva remembrance to reduce inner dissatisfaction.
