शिवानुकम्पा, ब्रह्मणो निर्भयत्वं च (Śiva’s Compassion and Brahmā’s Fearlessness)
केचिद्वाद्यान्वादयन्तो गायंतस्सुस्वरं परे । शिवं शिवयशश्शुद्धमनुजग्मुः शिवं मुदा
kecidvādyānvādayanto gāyaṃtassusvaraṃ pare | śivaṃ śivayaśaśśuddhamanujagmuḥ śivaṃ mudā
Einige spielten Musikinstrumente, andere sangen mit süßem Klang. In Freude folgten sie Śiva—dessen reine Berühmtheit heiligt—und dienten Śiva voller Wonne.

The verse highlights bhakti as a purifying path: singing and music offered to Shiva, and remembering His spotless glory, cleanse the mind and draw the devotee toward Shiva (Pati), the liberator.
The devotees ‘follow Shiva’ with joyful praise, showing Saguna-upasana—approaching Shiva through His accessible, worshipful form and qualities. Such kirtana commonly accompanies linga-worship, processions, and temple rites where Shiva’s name and fame are central.
Congregational kirtana/japa of Shiva’s names (especially the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with a joyful, steady mind—optionally alongside traditional Shaiva observances like Tripundra (bhasma) and Rudraksha—aligns with the spirit of this verse.
