Viṣṇu’s Hymn and the Petition for Śiva–Satī’s Protection
Lord Shiva (Maheshvara)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Tatpuruṣa
The verse highlights how Shiva, as Pati (the Lord), responds to ego and impropriety with corrective truth, not to harm but to restore dharma; remembrance of Hari’s request shows divine governance is aligned with cosmic welfare rather than personal reaction.
Shiva appears here as Saguna Maheśvara—personally present and responsive—showing that devotion to Shiva (including Linga worship) is not merely ritual but a living relationship where the Lord instructs and restrains adharmic pride.
A practical takeaway is to approach Shiva with humility while repeating the Panchakshara mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), offering worship with inner surrender; the verse implicitly warns that pride disrupts the fruit of yajña and worship.
