Devi (the Goddess, addressed as Devī—here Sati/Śakti speaking in a boon-giving mode)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: nurturing
It teaches that divine grace may fulfill a devotee’s wish, but true dharma is to continue tapas and inner discipline afterward—so the boon becomes a support for spiritual maturity rather than mere enjoyment.
Although the verse is spoken by Devī, it reflects the Shaiva principle that devotion to the Divine in a personal (saguṇa) form yields fruits; yet the devotee must sustain austerity and purity to align life with Pati (Śiva) and His Śakti, rather than stopping worship after success.
The direct instruction is to ‘hold tapas’—practically expressed as continuing vrata, japa (such as the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), and disciplined worship even after one’s desired result is attained.
