Lord Shiva (teaching Parvati on dharma and disciplined conduct)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Significance: Ethical discipline (yama-like restraints) is presented as a prerequisite for receiving the guru’s grace; purity of speech and conduct is treated as an inner tīrtha that supports Śiva-bhakti.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
It teaches śuddhi (purification) of speech and behavior—avoiding slander and conflict—so the seeker’s mind becomes fit for Shiva-bhakti and inner stillness, which supports liberation in the Shaiva path.
Linga-worship emphasizes reverence, humility, and disciplined senses; restraining loud speech, mockery, and divisive talk preserves the sanctity (pavitrata) of the worship space and aligns the devotee with Saguna Shiva’s grace-filled presence.
Practice mauna (measured silence) and soft speech in sacred settings, especially near one’s Guru; during japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), keep the mind free from apavāda and kalaha as a direct discipline.
