Rati’s Supplication to Śaṅkara regarding Kāma’s Ashes
Brahma
Tattva Level: pati
It highlights that when the divine is duly honored, the intended spiritual aim (manoratha) becomes fulfilled—suggesting that grace and reverent alignment with Pati (the Lord) resolves the gods’ purpose.
Though the verse is narrative, its core act is “sammānya” (reverent honoring), which mirrors Saguna worship—approaching the Lord through respectful devotion, by which seekers become “labdha-manorathāḥ,” successful in their aim.
The takeaway is reverential upacāra-bhakti: offer respectful homage (namaskāra, stuti, pūjā) with a calm mind; this is the inner attitude that supports mantra-japa such as the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya).
