कामभस्म-प्रार्थना: रत्याः शङ्करं प्रति विनयः / Rati’s Supplication to Śaṅkara regarding Kāma’s Ashes
देवा ऊचुः । धन्यस्त्वं स्मर सन्दग्धः शिवेनानुग्रहीकृतः । जीवयामास सत्त्वांशकृपादृष्ट्या खिलेश्वरः
devā ūcuḥ | dhanyastvaṃ smara sandagdhaḥ śivenānugrahīkṛtaḥ | jīvayāmāsa sattvāṃśakṛpādṛṣṭyā khileśvaraḥ
Die Devas sprachen: „O Smara (Kāma), obgleich du verbrannt wurdest, bist du wahrhaft gesegnet, denn Śiva hat dir seine Gnade erwiesen. Durch seinen mitleidsvollen Blick—dir einen Anteil an Sattva verleihend—hat Khileśvara, der Herr über alles, dich wieder zum Leben erweckt.“

By calling Śiva “Khileśvara,” the verse points to Saguna Śiva as the accessible Lord who actively governs and blesses the worlds; Linga-worship similarly approaches Śiva as the living, grace-giving presence who can purify the devotee’s nature (increase sattva).
A practical takeaway is to seek Śiva’s anugraha through daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with a sattvic mind, along with simple Śiva-upacāra (Linga abhiṣeka) while contemplating His kṛpā-dṛṣṭi (compassionate glance).
