अध्याय ४९ — विवाहानुष्ठाने ब्रह्मणः काममोहः
Brahmā’s Enchantment by Desire during the Wedding Rites
अथ ते ह्यृषयस्सर्वे उपतस्थुस्तदा मुने । ममान्तिकं परप्रीत्या तात तातेति चाब्रुवन्
atha te hyṛṣayassarve upatasthustadā mune | mamāntikaṃ paraprītyā tāta tāteti cābruvan
Dann kamen all jene Weisen, o Muni, herbei und traten nahe zu mir. In tiefer Zuneigung sprachen sie mich immer wieder an: „Liebes Kind, liebes Kind.“
Sūta Gosvāmī (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
Sthala Purana: No Jyotirliṅga linkage; the focus is relational—newly arisen sages approach the Lord with affectionate address, signaling proximity to grace (anugraha) and discipleship.
Significance: Models the bhāva of upasthāna (reverent attendance) and affectionate surrender as a means to receive Śiva’s guidance.
It highlights satsanga and śraddhā: realized sages approach the teacher with humility and affection, showing that spiritual knowledge of Śiva is best received through reverent, loving inquiry rather than argument.
Before teachings on Śiva’s saguna forms (including Liṅga worship) bear fruit, the Purāṇa emphasizes the right relationship—devotees approaching the narrator/guru with devotion, which ripens bhakti and makes ritual and contemplation effective.
Adopt guru-bhāva and begin recitation/listening with reverence—e.g., mentally bow, then chant the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with steady attention before hearing or reading the कथा.
