The Episode of Anaraṇya’s Daughter and Sage Pippalāda
Suta Goswami

The verse highlights that worship performed in a particularly pure and auspicious time (Rohiṇī with a bright Moon, Mārgaśīrṣa, and Monday) is considered free from obstructive inauspiciousness, supporting focused bhakti and steadiness of mind toward Lord Shiva.
In the Shiva Purana’s ritual framework, Saguna worship—especially Linga-puja—emphasizes proper kāla (timing). A ‘faultless’ time is recommended so offerings, mantra-japa, and abhiṣeka are performed without ritual impediments, strengthening the devotee’s devotional connection to Shiva.
It suggests scheduling Shiva worship on a Monday in Mārgaśīrṣa when Rohiṇī is present, ideally with Panchākṣarī japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and simple Linga abhiṣeka; the emphasis is on purity and disciplined observance (vrata).
