(Deva-stuti) — “Hymn of the Devas / Divine Praise”
A devotee/sage offering a hymn of praise to Goddess Pārvatī (as Śakti) within Sūta’s narration in the Rudrasaṃhitā
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
The verse identifies Devī (Pārvatī-Śakti) as the inner essence within the pañca-bhūtas and as the power that becomes ethical discernment (nīti) and steadfast resolve (vyavasāya). In a Śaiva Siddhānta lens, this points to Śakti as the operative grace that orders the soul’s life toward dharma and liberation under Śiva’s lordship.
Linga-worship honors Śiva as the supreme Pati, while this verse highlights Śakti as His inseparable power working within creation and within the devotee’s mind as right guidance and determination. Thus, worship of the Śiva-liṅga naturally includes reverence for Pārvatī as the indwelling शक्ति that makes devotion steady and disciplined.
A practical takeaway is to combine japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with sankalpa (firm resolve) and nīti (ethical vows such as truthfulness, purity, non-injury). Offer water and bilva to the liṅga while contemplating Devī as the inner power that refines the five elements into spiritual purity.
