Sūta Gosvāmī (narrating the Rudra Saṃhitā account to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
It highlights disciplined tapas offered specifically for Śiva (Śivārtha), showing that sincere spiritual effort, guided by dharma and elders’ consent, becomes a pure means to receive Śiva’s grace.
The intent “for Śiva” aligns with Saguna devotion—approaching Śiva as the Lord who responds to prayer, vows, and worship (including Liṅga-pūjā), where inner resolve is supported by outer observance.
A takeaway is vrata and mantra-japa undertaken as tapas—especially steady repetition of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with purity, restraint, and devotional focus toward Śiva.
